‘We mustn’t let the self and Dharma grow apart with thoughts like, “I am working,” or “I am sitting in zazen.” We must practice zazen with our whole bodies, we must do our work with our whole body. We must become one with our work to the extent that there is no gap for “me” to enter. This has nothing to do with the lengths of our periods of practice.’ (Unfathomable Depths)
Because this is so hard to maintain, we are all beginners, all the time.
