'Xuansha was one day attending Xuefeng, when two monastics passed near the steps. 
Xuefeng said, "Those two seem like promising grass that can produce seeds for planting."
Xuansha said, "I would not say that." 
Xuefeng said, "What would you say then?"
Xuansha said, "I would give them twenty blows of the stick."' (Shinji Shobogenzo)
