Sekkei Harada

‘There is nothing that is not the Dharma, including oneself. It is impossible to create a separation between oneself and the Dharma. Even when we think of the Dharma as something apart from ourselves, saying “This is the Dharma and this is not,” the Dharma is nevertheless seamless. We are practicing the Dharma while in the midst of the Dharma. No matter how fearful or confused or anxious we might be, there exists the Dharma of fear, of confusion, of anxiety, of mental afflictions. If you realize this, then delusion is enlightenment, confusion is realization, and anxiety is peace of mind. This is to say that it is absolutely impossible for something extraneous to the Dharma to enter into our consciousness.’ (Unfathomable Depths)

I am sure you are all too savvy to confuse Sekkei Harada with Shodo Harada. In any case, I picked up this book to take with me to Wilbur last weekend, and I resonated with it more than perhaps I had when I first read it. There will be other passages to follow.
