Kosho Uchiyama

‘We are, from the beginning, Iiving within the light of Amitabha Buddha. When you read this talk, you may think, “It is true,” or “I don’t believe it.” We know that all such thoughts welling up from our brain are actually from the “Buddha’s Life” that penetrates heaven and earth. They don’t come up because “I” want them to come up. Somehow, they appear from the “Buddha’s Life” that is the reality of life (one mind is all dharmas; all dharmas are one mind.) Without exception, we are all living completely interpenetrating life. However, the contents of our thoughts are not universal at all, but are very individual and even egocentric. Isn’t it interesting?’ (Dogen’s Genjo Koan – Three Commentaries)
