Qingsi asked, “Whathave you brought with you?”
Shitou replied, “I had everything I needed before I went toCaoxi.”
Qingsi said, “If that’s so, why did you go there?”
Shitou answered, “If I hadn’t gone there, how would I have known it?”‘
