‘Buddha ancestors invariably emerge in a single particle and enter nirvana in a single particle. They emerge in the entire world and enter nirvana in the entire world. They emerge in a single moment and emerge in the ocean of multiple eons. And yet, their emergence in a single particle in a single moment lacks no merit. This cannot be replaced by their emergence in the entire world, in the ocean of multiple eons.’ (Shobogenzo Bukkyo)
The Dogen study group started on The Buddha’s Teaching fascicle; if I were going to parse this paragraph in the way I do in my Dogen classes, I would say it smacks of mutual non-obstruction. Everything is connected; nothing is hindered.
