New Year

A Happy New Year to all my readers – I hope that there is cheer on the horizon for you.

I had had a feeling that 2024 might be my year – as much because it was the Year of the Dragon as for any other reason – and overall I am very happy with where my life is now. I have high hopes for 2025, on a personal level in any case, though the wider picture is nothing but depressing from where I am looking.

The Christmas rain blew over by Sunday lunchtime; the afternoon roam was the first exercise I had had in more than a week. I would not say that I was completely recovered, but I managed to ride to Crissy Field  and back, and walk three or four miles without particular difficulty. It was nice to see some of the regulars again.

I have still been sleeping way more than usual though. I was surprised to learn as I started thinking about my talk in earnest that I had made some voice notes for it on one of the nights when I was lying in bed with a fever –  I had totally forgotten having done so. Perhaps I will use those notes as a starting point, or some other as-yet-unformed thoughts.

The rain had gone, but left its traces.
A view I have taken many times – but more in the morning than with late afternoon sun.
