Longer Days

We have passed through the clock change and the Spring Equinox, and it is starting to feel a little bit more like spring again. Last weekend we had the patchy rain that was forecast, but what was more noticeable was the colder wind that came wiith the low pressure system. We had the heating on at our place by the end of the afternoon, as it blew through the closed windows.

I am still feeling the tail end of last week’s sickness, mainly in coughing – which has not been helping our sleep – and a lumpy throat that has made swallowing a little uncomfortable.

Having got tested for various things at the doctor’s last week, it was not COVID, one of two kinds of flu, nor RSV. Thankfully, most of my other numbers looked pretty normal as well.

One of the owners of the place we rent has been bringing appraisers around, as he wants to sell, but we have had assurances that there will be no impact on us – a cause for celebration when we heard. The rental agents let us know they wanted to do a clean out of the basement – where all three apartments have stuff stored – so this is a motivating factor for doing a spring clean around the house and yard so that we can get some unnecessary things hauled away.

Otherwise, now that I have got my taxes done (no nasty surprises this year, but I still owed several thousand dollars due to all the 1099 and self-employed work I do) I am planning ahead for the summer. Having officiated at a very sweet and intimate home wedding on Tuesday, I have potentially five weddings lined up before the end of September, as well as the week at Tassajara, a weekend at Wilbur, and hopefully a half-day workshop for Zen Center, which I should have more details about soon.

We had a sunny roam last Saturday around Bernal Heights, including this secluded community garden.
Post-rain clouds on Monday.
A very fine spot for the weddiing on Tuesday.
A milder morning on Friday.
