Sun and Rain

This week was quite something in the weather stakes. The weekend had been perfectly nice, and we spent much of it outdoors when we weren’t working on our spring cleaning projects, but warmer air blew in on Monday. Between teaching sessions I managed to get my deckchair out by the kitchen door for a while. In the evening, when I rode over to Noe Valley for my student group, you would have thought it was mid-summer, with the soft light, and kids happily playing in the adjacent playground. Tuesday was even warmer, though I was mostly in the north-facing, cavernous workshop, so I didn’t get the most of it. When we went out to walk Georgie last thing though, we needed to add a couple of layers, as the fog was rolling in and bringing a chill.

Bits of rain are forecast to move through over the next week, though the forecast varies from day to day. There was a brief shower on Thursday. On Friday I set out for my morning ride and immediately saw a dark cloud over Russian Hill which went from sprinkling to downpour in a few minutes. I wasn’t properly dressed for that, so I cut short the ride.

The spring feeling has extended as I continue to have work coming my way: an online talk for a small group in the midwest, followed a few days later by the Wednesday night dharma talk at Zen Center; a potential collaboration with a new wellness space in the city as well as two meditations for founders in the next few months and the half-day workshop for Zen Center. I will share details of the public events as they are finalised.

I was out on my bike early on Sunday morning, which was really lovely.
Brief glimpses of sun on Thursday morning.
