The End of May

Thankfully, the holiday weekend went pretty much as planned. It felt like we had a perfect balance of activity and resting. On Friday we did a deep clean of our place together which felt really good. Over the next few days, we also took care of some chores that had been hanging around; donated some boxes of things we no longer needed; I cleaned my bikes and fixed a flat I had got riding back from sewing class on Thursday evening. I also watched the end of the English football league with its manifold dramas. In the middle of it all I performed a little wedding down at a house down in Pacifica and then, as Ruth had driven us down there, we ate out overlooking the ocean as the sun set.

I got to ride on three mornings, and feel that my legs are finally getting a little sharper. On Monday, though, when I had a long ride in mind, the weather was rather dreary and pervasively damp, which was especially galling when Tuesday morning turned out to be nicer – the kind of morning I wish I had had on Monday. At least the sun came out later each day, and we got to relax in that a fair amount.

As usual, it felt odd to be kicking off the work week with a Tuesday, but next weekend already looks close at hand. I have a couple of well-subscribed roams coming up which I am looking forward to, especially if the winds die down a bit.
