Shundo David Haye – Zen Priest

A monk once asked Master Yaoshan, “Did the essence of the awakened way exist here before Bodhidharma came from India?”
The master said, “Yes, it did.”
The monk asked, “Then why did he come?”
The master said, “He came exactly because it was here already.”

Somebody has to make sure our eyes are open.
