A Full Week

Last weekend’s rain was somewhat as forecast: I got a little damp on a quick ride before the farmers’ market, and did not bother to ride on Sunday. I also felt too lazy to get much else done with the extra hours at my disposal, but felt okay about that. It was also cold this week, with a northerly wind counteracting the sun – after digging out my rain gear, I have had to pull some warmer clothes out of the closet as well.

This was a full week of teachings: three groups on Monday, the morning meditation on Tuesday, two sessions on Wednesday, and the Zen Center group on Thursday, as well as roams on Friday and Saturday. All of which I do find energising. The conversations we have in the Monday groups are always heart-warming, and the questions and exchanges in the other sessions make me feel glad I am doing this work, even if attendance at some of them is very small.

Tuesday was also a longer day with another of my occasional shifts with the AV team setting up for two different corporate events, which involved a fair amount of hauling gear and also a lot of walking, as one of the events was at the Metreon, the event space being pretty much a whole city block long. I slept well for a couple of days after that.

I also got my taxes filed, and paid what was due; as always I feel glad that I have anything left in my savings after that. I was trying to book train tickets for England, but my English cards got frozen, and I am supposed to call the bank’s fraud line in England to deal with it, which is incredibly frustrating. I have done some studying for my class starting a week today, a little bit of sewing, some chores around the house. I can’t say I am ready for the class, but I trust that with a little more time and space this coming week, I will be by Saturday.

Spots of rain on Twin Peaks on Saturday morning.
The views from the Metreon are always great, but there was a chilly wind blowing that day.
Friday’s roam on Potrero Hill, catching the light and the colours.
