‘When we begin practicing and learn how to relax into our bodies and minds, sometimes down to deep stillness, all kinds of thoughts, emotions, and sensations can make themselves known, some for the first time.
When we need to hide some of this or need not to acknowledge some of it, even to ourselves, we are killing parts of ourselves. The only way to become whole and to “maintain the wisdom life of Buddha” is to welcome all those aspects of ourselves we are consciously and unconsciously trying to smother. Our efforts at smothering can’t succeed. We are killing that wisdom life by not welcoming it all. To welcome fear, anger, greed, hatred, and all possible negative emotions, sensations, and thoughts gasping for breath in us, and to do so with curiosity and compassion, is to be surprised by freedom, space, love, transformation, and life!’ (Opening to Oneness)
